Cleaning:  The entire east side of the house is a pack-rat’s dream, however it is also the first view of the house that our guests have.  For the past year we have been working on removing the decades of treasures collected by my parents.  It’s hard to imagine that before escrow closed, my Dad took about ten truck loads of trash to the dump.  We’ve taken to the dump or given away another ten loads ourselves.

Landscape:  The front entry to the house needs to be re-designed.  The deck on the front is not architecturally consistent and it is a termite trap.  The four coast redwood trees that shade the front are non-native and have been stressed in periods of drought.  As they get bigger, their shallow root system will be even less likely to support their size, the roots may jeopardize our house, and the trees themselves will start growing into the eaves of the house.  They are the wrong trees for this area and will need to be replaced.  In addition to adding native trees for shade, we envision a large stone patio entrance on the front.  Rock pillars would line the entire front of the house; historically consistent fencing would run from pillar to pillar.

Paint:  The north and south sides of the house have not been painted in over 25 years.  It is time.  We’re working on a good craftsman color scheme.
