Irving J. Gill's "Williams House" circa 1910

Projects: Outbuildings

Home

“The Little House”:  The Little House was used originally as a servant’s quarters and is now used as a guest house.  It is perched on a hillside, which is eroding.  We installed a retaining wall in the spring of 2005, but the foundation needs to be anchored as well.  The exterior beams have dry rot on the ends; the entire exterior needs to be painted.  The entire inside is in fair condition.  There is some ceiling and wall damage, small in the grand scheme of things.  The bathroom and kitchen need to be restored to a useable condition.

Tank House:  Our three-story tank house loses shingles and framing pieces with every major wind storm.  We hope to save this structure and the huge redwood water tank on the third floor, though we may be too late.  We are working on a plan to use the redwood tank for some other purpose and would like to finish the tank house so that it could be used as office or leisure space, though this conversion is far beyond our budget.  Currently, the tank house has no plumbing and is basically a shell of old timber with a few shingles hanging on.
