Irving J. Gill's "Williams House" circa 1910

Who We Are

Home

Hilltop House is owned by Sander Valyocsik and Amanda Rose, husband and wife, along with Jeanie Rose, Amanda’s mother.

The Roses first moved to Hilltop in the fall of 1982 along with Dwaine Rose and Kimberly Rose-Winter, Amanda’s father and sister respectively.  The Roses operated the house as a retreat center called Emmaus House.  The Rose-Valyocsiks purchased Dwaine’s share of the home in the winter of 2004 and began planning the renovation in the winter of 2005.

Sander is originally from Bucks County, Pennsylvania and met Amanda in a Ph.D. program in Political Science at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana .  After graduate school, Sander and Amanda moved to California and started a business doing program evaluation for school districts and other social service agencies.  They spend most of their work time analyzing data and writing reports.  Sander and Amanda have a son named Frederick, born in the spring of 2002.

Jeanie is developing a line of scripture-based prayer CDs, the first of which will be released in the summer of 2005.
